Frequently asked questions

How is this different from GOOGLEFINANCE?

=FINANCE works the same way: you pass a ticker and the attributes you want. It reads from Yahoo Finance, so it supports more symbols (crypto pairs, futures, many international listings) and many more fields, including financial statements, option chains, analyst targets and ESG scores.

Which ticker symbols can I use?

Any symbol that works on finance.yahoo.com, for example AAPL, BTC-USD, EURUSD=X, GC=F or ^GSPC. If you don't know a symbol, use =FINANCE_SEARCH("company name").

Is the data real-time?

The add-on returns the data Yahoo Finance publishes. Many quotes are real-time; some exchanges are delayed by Yahoo Finance. Google Sheets also caches custom function results, so see refreshing and optimization.

What happens after the free trial?

Formulas show a message asking you to upgrade. Your sheets and formulas stay as they are, and they return data again as soon as you subscribe via Extensions → FINANCE for Yahoo → Upgrade to Premium.

How do I cancel?

Open Extensions → FINANCE for Yahoo → My Account in Google Sheets and cancel there, or email support@webdatahub.com.

Do you see my spreadsheet data?

No. The add-on runs inside your Google account and none of your spreadsheet contents are synced to our servers. Read the privacy policy for details.
